EDWARD B. LOWRY engages in a statewide commercial litigation practice.
He has been with the firm since he began practicing law in
July, 1971. He also handles a wide variety of commercial transactions
and negotiations. His litigation experience includes matters
involving business torts, construction law, securities arbitration,
employment, contract, real estate and banking laws. He is
a fellow of the American College of Trial Lawyers, the American
Bar Foundation and the Virginia Law Foundation. Among a variety
of positions with the Virginia State Bar, Mr. Lowry was president
from June 1997-June 1998; a member of the Bar Council, the
governing body of the legal profession in the Commonwealth,
from 1989-1995; and a member of its Executive Committee from
1994-1998. In 1997 he served as co-chair of the Southern Conference
of Bar Presidents. He was also President of the Charlottesville-Albemarle
Bar Association from 1988-1990.

DAVID W. THOMAS practices in the firm's commercial group. His experience includes
commercial litigation, employment law, construction law, securities
litigation and arbitration and products liability litigation.
A native of Virginia, David attended Thomas Jefferson High School for Science and
Technology in Alexandria before matriculating to Swarthmore College and the University
of Virginia School of Law. During law school, David worked for the Greene County
Commonwealth's Attorney's office, where he prosecuted a broad range of criminal cases.
Following graduation, David clerked for the Hon. Danny C. Reeves in federal district
court in Kentucky, where he was exposed to a broad range of federal litigation as well
as appellate litigation before the Sixth Circuit. David then moved to Washington, D.C.
to practice with a large national firm based out of Palo Alto, California, representing
technology companies in commercial, securities and antitrust litigation. David then moved
to a regional litigation firm, where he practiced in the area of products liability before getting
the opportunity to return to Charlottesville.
In his spare time, David is an avid Redskins and Cavaliers fan who tries to justify his
golf game as "good exercise."

ROBERT N. JONES - Before coming to Michie Hamlett in 2001, Rob worked for six years as a Senior Paralegal at a prestigious securities litigation defense firm which represented a number of the largest brokerage houses in customer disputes. Having switched sides to the representation of the investor, Rob utilizes his experience and knowledge analyzing claims and damages as well as managing the firm's securities arbitration case load.
